Anti-Corruption Themes

It has famously been said that "sunshine is the greatest disinfectant" and indeed, transparency is one of the greatest weapons in the fight against corruption. In that context, the right to access information is a key tool in promoting accountability and tackling corruption. With more information about what governments are doing, what services they provide and what programmes they are implementing, the public, as well as the media, accountability institutions and legislators, can more effectively identify, expose and prosecute corrupt practices.
